Castles in the Air - Script overview and character descriptions



Creative notes on the script:

  • Getting the tone exactly right will be crucial
  • We will need to be careful about the twist/reveal in the plot
  • Choosing the right shot sequence will be crucial for scene 2

Character descriptions:

Tom

Tom Miller is in his 60s. He is a widower and father of one.  He is retired and has a military background.  He is a proud man and likes to keep to himself.  He is a worrier and not comfortable sharing openly with others. 

He lost his wife, Geraldine, to an illness 5 years ago and a large part of him has suffered in silence ever since.  He adores his daughter, Mary, whom is extremely proud of.  He feels she is what keeps him going in these years of his life.

Geraldine

Geraldine Miller was a vivacious, lager than life character and was loved by those around her. When she was 23 she married Tom Miller and shared a very happy life with him that included a daughter, Mary. 

Geraldine was diagnosed with cancer at the age of 51. She battled the illness for four years until it finally took her life at the age of 55. She left behind her 25-year old daughter and her 55-year-old husband.
