Audition Plan for Actor Selection (Director)
- Ask actor/actress to read their piece/monologue etc.
- Approach and start improvisation process.
Set scenario for improvisational process
This will involve acting out a loosely scripted scene
based of the themes and emotions of the park bench scene in Castles in the Air.
Scenario
Setting
A father is called to his daughter’s school after she
has been caught smoking on school grounds. He is very worried about this because she has been caught
smoking before and is on her last warning. Expulsion would mean having to leave
the area in order to find a new school.
She has already been struggling to keep up in classes and the situation
could mean she would miss some important exams.
Next
Another parent sits beside him awaiting news of her
daughter whom is also in trouble. She is the interfering, busy body type and
she starts getting at him in order to find out what his daughter did. The
father doesn’t want his true feelings to show and he doesn’t care for this
interference either. He tries, polite at first, to bat her off.
CHANGE
The woman is his ex wife and she has also been called
in. The daughter lives with the father and the mother sees less of her, but she
has a more positive outlook and the father objects to having this outlook
forced upon him.
